Meher Baba's Messages

Maintaining a strict vow of silence for 44 years—from July 10, 1925 until His passing in 1969—Avatar Meher Baba lived His message of Truth, declaring, “I have come not to teach, but to awaken.” Again and again He stressed that God cannot be understood through words and the intellect, only known through experience, born of love.

Still, He left a large body of discourses and messages, shared with those near Him and recorded by His close disciples. These are both detailed and expansive, dealing with the practical aspects of the spiritual path while explaining the workings of Creation. Most were communicated in English, and many dictated through the use of an alphabet board, letter by letter. However, in 1954, Baba gave up using the alphabet board, and from then on relied upon a unique language of hand gestures for all verbal communication.

The messages and discourses from Meher Baba found here give some sense of His “writings,” though they represent only a small fraction of what is available through the many books that have been published by and about Meher Baba.
